How Recent Visits makes money
Listing fees, paid Featured placement and ads on editorial pages. Here is exactly what each one changes.
Partner listing fees
Travel agencies pay a flat fee to be listed on Recent Visits and to receive quote requests from travellers. Every tour in the Tours section and every tour the assistant shows comes from a paying partner.
The listing fee does not change where a tour appears. Tours and agencies are first matched to your trip (length, destinations, style, group); anything that does not fit is left out, whoever it belongs to. What remains is ranked by fit and partner quality (verification, review history).
Featured placement
Agencies can also pay for Featured placement. Among the tours and agencies that fit your trip, Featured ones are shown first, and they always carry a visible “Featured” label. Paying never lets a tour or agency that does not fit your trip in, and never makes us call anyone “the best”.
Agencies are reviewed when they join and verified agencies are marked as such. They publish their own tours, and we can pause any listing. We are not a party to your booking; prices shown are indicative “from” prices supplied by the agency.
Advertising
Editorial pages, such as stories, travel guides, destination and trek pages, may show Google ads, each marked “Advertisement”. Ads load only after you accept non-essential cookies. There are no ads on tour pages, agency pages, the AI assistant, or in the partner and account areas.
We share 40% of the ad income from traveller-story pages with authors who live in Nepal, and pay them for selected stories and photos. This never depends on what a story says about a destination, business or agency. Contributor terms
Advertisers have no influence on what we write or recommend.
What we never do
- Show paid placement without the “Featured” label.
- Let a fee or an advertiser change what our guides and itineraries say.
- Present a paid boost as an editorial choice.
- Invent prices, availability or permit rules on a partner’s behalf.
