On this page
The Recent Visits website widget puts a chat assistant, your published tours and a quote request form on your own website. Visitors ask travel questions and get answers from your agency's own data on Recent Visits (your profile, tours, documents, saved answers and reviews), see your tours, and can send you a quote request.
What the widget does#
- Chat: answers questions about your agency and tours, from your data only. It does not use Recent Visits' general editorial content and never mentions other agencies. If it does not know, it says to ask the agency and offers the quote form.
- Tours: your published tours with indicative "from" prices.
- Quote request: a short form (name, email, a few words, optional phone, travellers and date) with a consent checkbox.
- Talk to the agency: if you allow it and you are within office hours, a visitor can ask for a person and a team member takes over the chat from the portal.
- Look and wording (colours, launcher, assistant name, header, welcome message) set in the Widget Studio in your portal and delivered automatically.
How it works#
- You register your website's domain in the portal (Production for your live site, Test for staging or
localhost). - You paste a one-line script tag with your public key into your site.
- When the page loads the widget fetches its look from Recent Visits (no session yet). When a visitor opens the chat it exchanges the public key for a short-lived session token. The key identifies your integration; it is not a password.
- Chats, quote requests and activity are saved in Recent Visits and appear in your portal.
Your page configuration (anything you pass in code or data-config) overrides the look saved in the Widget Studio, field by field.
Environments#
| Production | Test | |
|---|---|---|
| Domain | Your live domain (every subdomain is covered) | A staging domain, or localhost |
| Settings shown | Published settings | Your saved draft |
| Chats and quotes | Reach your inbox and Leads | Not delivered (chats deleted after 7 days; quote requests validated then dropped) |
| Talk to the agency | If enabled | Never |
Owners edit the settings; managers can only see the registered websites. See Widget Studio field reference.
