For travellers
Photo licence
What you agree to when you offer a photo to Recent Visits. Version 2026-10-13.
In short
- You keep the copyright. You can still use, share or sell your photo elsewhere.
- If we accept your photo, Recent Visits may use it, without time limit and worldwide, on our website, social media, newsletters and promotion of Recent Visits, and may crop or resize it. We do not sell it on to others.
- We credit you by name wherever it is practical to do so.
Payment
- If you live in Nepal, we pay a one-off fee when we accept your photo: NPR 1,500 for 5 photos (NPR 300 each) used in articles and guides, paid for each photo we use, or NPR 1,500 for a homepage or destination cover. We pay by Khalti, eSewa or Nepali bank transfer within 14 days of receiving the original file and your payment details.
- If you live outside Nepal, you grant the same licence free of charge, and we credit you by name.
- Offering a photo is optional and never affects whether your story is published.
Your promises
- You took the photo yourself and have the right to license it.
- You tell us honestly about recognisable people. Photos showing people who did not agree are only used in articles, never on covers or in promotion.
Withdrawing
You can withdraw an offer any time before we accept it, from My photos. After acceptance the licence continues, including if you later delete your account (we remove your contact details and, if you prefer, your name from the credit). Contact us if a photo must come down (for example at the request of someone shown in it) and we will remove it.
