Overview

Set on Phewa Lake with the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre peaks reflected in the water, Pokhara is Nepal’s relaxed second city. It is the gateway to the Annapurna treks and the country’s adventure capital, with paragliding, zip-lining and boating on the doorstep.

Most travellers base themselves in Lakeside, a long strip of cafés, gear shops and guesthouses. Mornings are the time for mountain views; afternoons often cloud over.
